dc.description.abstractThe study was conducted in the White Nile Sugar Scheme (WNSS), area with an objective environmental impacts of the project, with special refinance to forest and range resources . Beside the visit to the area, questionnaire was constructed to survey these impacts and to know the ideas of officials, local communities and other people involved in the establishment of the and management of the scheme. The sample include six villages and covered more than 200 respondents, the data collected was then entered and analyzed through SPSS and outcome results showed that 93% of the population agreed for the establishment of the project for different benefits which can be reached out from the project like creation of jobs opportunities, improvement of social services, income increase and others. On the other hand 86% of the respondents predicted the appearance of negative impacts will appear ; like environmental pollution; air, water and soil that will lead to more diseases. Some villages are relocated and compensnated. Natural forest and range were completely removed in the scheme area. But the project administration assured to raise plantation plots equals at least to 5 % of the project area. Also fodder will be provided to the limited number of animals in the area.en_US
