Abstract: The primary objective of a reservoir study is to predict future performance of a reservoir and find ways and means of increasing ultimate recovery. Reservoir simulation by computers allows more detailed study than the classical reservoir engineering deals with reservoir as tank model. The reservoir simulation study includes a number of steps to be finalized. It’s running starting from data gathering, initialization and QC, history matching, prediction cases and finally the optimum reservoir management plan which will be implemented in the near future. This thesis will be on field study (real data) from HA field located in block 2A Sudan. This field contains four wells which are HA-01, HA-02, HA-03 and HA-04. The daily oil production rate for the four mentioned wells is 340, 259, 233 and 52 STB/D respectively. And the daily liquid production rate is 418, 8347, 6622 and 1257 STB/D respectively. All wells producing from multilayer such as Arad and Ben. The objective of this thesis is to determine the optimum production rate for the wells in this field. A brief summary of the data gathering, initialization and the history matching will be covered in this thesis. The thesis will concentrate in how to select the optimum production rate theoretically and will confirm that by actual case in the field mentioned above. For that, the simulator will run with only change in the well liquid rate. The objective of tuning the production rate is to come out with optimum rate that can result best recovery with low water rate and low operating cost. The result of this study come out with the optimum production rate, for well HA-01 its recommend to use higher liquid rate of 10,000 STB/D and same for well HA-02. For well HA-03 its recommend to sustain the current production rate. For well Ha-04 its recommend to make water shut off job to close the water zones, then evaluate the other layer in term of productivity and then select the optimum production rate. Finally, optimizing the production rate in the initial time of the reservoir life will let the reservoir support and giving oil for longer time and with the best recovery of oil and gas.
