This study was done in Khartoum state in the period of August to October 2013, to detecting the schistosomiasis effect on erythropoeisis effectiveness and iron status among basic school boys (9-17 year old). This study included 82 schistosomic boys and 82 non-schistosomic boys. The density of infection was measured by formal ether concentration technique and urine sedimentation technique. Five vinous blood had been drown from all study participants, 2.5 ml placed in EDTA container, 2.5 ml placed in Lithium Heparin container,. EDTA blood sample was used for CBC which has been carried out using automatic cell counter (Sysmex Kx 21N), reteculocyte count, and PBP, while the plasma of heparinized blood was collected for iron profile. The results of case group were as followed: RBC: 4.6 x 106 cell/μL, Hb: 12.5 gm/dL, PCV: 36.5%, MCV: 78.5fL , MCH: 26.9 pg, MCHC: 31.3 gm/dL, RDWSD:41.3%, WBC: 7.8 x 10 3 cell/μL, DNC: 31.8%, DLC:38.79%, DMC: 5.7%, DEC: 24.5%, ANC: 2.4 x 103 cell/μL, ALC: 2.9 x 103 cell/μL, AMC: 0.4 x 103 cell/μL, AEC: 2.1 x 103 cell/μL, platelet count: 432.0 x 103/μL, PDW: 12.3%, MPV: 10.0 fL, PLCR: 25.1, reteculocyte count: 0.47%, CRC: 0.38%, ARC: 0.017 x 106 cell/μL, RPI: 0.35, serum iron: 90.3 μg/dL, serum ferritin: 56.8 μg/L, transferrin saturation percentage: 304.8%, and TIBC: 97.82 μg/dL. This study concluded that, there was a significant reduction in most of study variables when compared with control group, there was a significant revers association between density of infection and all study variables except Plts, TWBCs, and AEC. S.hematobium infection was more severe than S.mansoni form of disease. This study presented that there is a significant reduction in red cell indices (MCV, MCH, and MCHC), reduction in erythropoeisis efeectiveness (RPI), and reduced iron stores (SF) that indicates iron deficiency anemia.en_US
