dc.description.abstract | This study was carried out in National Health Laboratory, Elbuluk Hospital and Ibrahim Malik Hospital at Khartoum state, during August to October 2005. The study was done to evaluate the in vitro activity of chloramphenicol against Salmonella typhi(S.typhi), which cause typhoid fever. Three hundered stool samples were collected from males (84%) and females (16%). Cultivation of these samples on enriched and/or selective media yielded isolation of four strains of S.typhi, and twenty five strain of Salmonella paratyphi B (S.paratyphi B). In this study all the S.typhi and S.paratyphi B were sensitive 100%to chloramphenicol. | en_US |
