Abstract: | Breast abnormalities are been increasing especially breast cancer so accurate diagnoses help to eliminate side effects and prevent complication. Many diagnostic modalities uses for breast investigation, the Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), superior to these modalities. The general objectives of this study is to emphasis Magnetic resonance imaging protocols to characterize breast tumors, using different pulse sequences, and compare with other imaging modalities. The data were collected from 254 patients underwent Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination and were diagnosed as having different breast disease, 4 are male and 250 are female, aged between 15-78, examined by two sequence of Magnetic resonance Imaging (MRI), routine and dynamic contrast enhancement magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI). The study was carried out in General electric and Philip 1.5 Tesla, signal intensities were evaluated from different MRI sequences in different tumors, which can use Histopathology as reference. The result of this study that Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), detect 126 (91.3%), patient having heterogeneous enhancement which is feature of cancer from 138 cancers in histopathology percentage. Dynamic contrast enhancement rapid washing in 43 (86.0%) cancers from 50. Curve type 111 which represent 28 cancers from 33 in histopathology percentage of detecting according to histopathology 84.8%. Sensitivity in benign 82.7%, in cancer 82.6%, Specificity of MRI equal to 73.2%, and accuracy is 81.1%. The study showed that Magnetic resonance imaging is superior to any imaging modalities in diagnosis and characterize breast tumors. This study shows that Magnetic resonance imaging in different sequence more sensitive in detecting breast tumors. |
