The present study was conducted from November 2011 to February 2012 at Kosti Teaching Hospital. This study was carried out to study of Hydronephrosis during pregnancy, using ultrasonography as diagnostic tool. This study was done by using (Mindray DP-3300) ultrasound machine with (2.5-4) MHz probe. A total of 60 pregnant women were enrolled for routine obstetric sonography during all trimesters, their ages range between 18-41 years. This study found that, 36 out of 60 (60%) of pregnant women have hydronephrosis. The hydronephrosis incidence was right kidney (61.1%), left kidney (25%) and bilateral hydronephrosis (13.9%). Out of 60 pregnant women the hydronephrosis was 0 of 14 (0%) in first Trimester, 14 of 20 (70%) in second Trimester, and 22 of 26 (85.6%) in third Trimester. (77.8%) of pregnant women who developed hydronephrosis were mild hydronephrosis, (22.2%) moderate hydronephrosis, and (0%) severe hydronephrosis. The study concludes that the Hydronephrosis was more prevalent in pregnant women at third trimester, right kidney hydronephrosis was more dominant than left kidney and bilateral hydronephrosis. Mild hydronephrosis was more than moderate or severe hydronephrosis (77.8%). The study was recommended that other studies to be done with checking of pregnant women after delivery to differentiate between the hydronephrosis that was resulting from pregnancy, or occurred as a result of disease.en_US
