Abstract: Mycobacterium tuberculosis is widely distributed pathogen especially in developing countries which causes primary and secondary pulmonary tuberculosis and if untreated extra pulmonary tuberculosis. This is case control study was aimed to evaluate the interleukin- 17(IL17) among Sudanese acute tuberculosis patients in Abo- Anga Hospital compared to healthy control group in Khartoum State during the period from June(2019) to June (2021) . Blood specimens were collected from each patient and IL-17 concentration was measured by Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) in Ibn Sina University Research Center. The data was analyzed using SPSS (Version 20). The mean level of IL-17 in acute tuberculosis patient was higher (15.6± 8.1 pg/ml), compared to control group (10.6±9.1 pg/ml) with statistical significant difference between case and control (p-value: 0.007). There was no statistical correlation between IL-17 level and age, sex, smoking status and socioeconomic status among cases subjects (p.value 0.2, 0.3, 0.8, 0.9) respectively. This study concluded that: IL-17 concentration was high among active TB patients and may be useful diagnostic biomarker for acute tuberculosis infection
