dc.description.abstractThis study attempts to investigate the effects of symbolism of birds in British romantic poetry. As a technique symbolism of birds has been used in romantic poetry to enhance poems and give insight to the reader. Birds are also a source of inspiration to romantic poets in order to relate nature with different aspects like feelings and beliefs. In this study, the researcher used the analytical approach and refers to five romantic poets. In conclusion, the Romantics symbolism of birds has been used to refer to innocence, gaiety, purity and boyhood, moreover, the researcher found out that use of birds in romantic poetry produces great effects which is accomplished by attaching additional meanings to the poem as it allows the poet to demonstrate the universal concepts underlying more specific circumstances which helps make the poem more relatable to the audience.en_US
