Attitudes of Medical Doctors Staff in Using Code Switching at Sudanese Hospitals

Abstract

The study aimed at investigatingthe attitudes of medical Doctors staff inusing code switching at Sudanese hospitals, and explaining the reasons behind thisphenomenon. The data of the study was collected by usingquestionnaire and interview. The sample was randomly selected from the hospitals in Khartoum. The results of this study revealed that medical Doctors staffused code switch widely. The reasons behind this phenomenon wereinterference, interlanguage and other factors. The consequences of repetition of medical terms among medical staff hada positive impact among the Doctors of horsemanship.The study was carried out in three hospitals in Khartoum State. These hospitals are: the Turkish Educational hospital, Ibrahim Malik hospital and Trust Care Center. It is realized that the Doctors and the physicians write their medical report in English language as a foreign language and as a language of education in most schools of medicine. Theaffection of the paramedics specially the nurse and to clarifying among them. This study comes to conclusion that code-switching is a phenomenon in medical field in Sudanese hospitals in general and Khartoum State in particular.
