dc.description.abstractThis study aimed at investigating the Sudanese secondary school students' motivations and attitudes towards learning English language. So, the study adopted descriptive analytical method (questionnaire) so as to elaborate and analyze the motivations and attitudes which help the secondary school students learn English language via statistical analysis of the gathered data. Hence, the samples of the study were the Sudanese secondary school students (males and females). Khartoum state, Bahry locality. As a result , the samples were selected randomly from some different secondary schools for males and females to obtain the necessary data for this study, the researcher used only one tool this is a questionnaire for the secondary school students (males and females) . Therefore , the researcher designed the questionnaire which consists of 40 phrases / sentences and that is confined to the research hypotheses to be read and answered by the students. Thus, data have been collected , analyzed and discussed in order to answer the research questions and verify the hypotheses . Therefore, the collected data were computed by means of percentages .So, the analysis of the collected data reveals that the Sudanese secondary school students (males/females) have instrumental and integrative motivations and attitudes towards learning the English language . Based on the result , the researcher made some recommendations for motivating and encouraging the secondary school students to learn English language and suggested future studies.en_US
