Abstract: Objectives Objectives of this study are – To evaluate gestational age obtained from measuring femoral length including and excluding femoral spur To justify including and excluding femoral spur during measurement of femoral length for the estimation of gestational age Method The study was done among 100 pregnant Pakistani women of different age groups of irrespective of gravida, pariety and known or unknown last menstrual period (LMP). Samples were taken in a random basis. Pregnant women having pregnancy related complication and/or fetuses having congenital anomaly or other complications didn’t include in this study. Data was collected by a structured Data Collection Format in following two centers: 1. Afro-Asian Institute of Medical Sciences, 626 Shadman, Lahore, Pakistan 2. Gilani’s Ultrasound Center, Ferozpur Road, Lahore, Pakistan Result Twenty eight fetuses among 100 pregnant women correspond with the gestational age measuring FL including spur of the femur. Rest 68 fetuses correspond with the gestational age measuring FL excluding spur of the femur. Most of the fetuses corresponding gestational age measuring FL including spur of the femur are of middle, late 2nd trimester and/or early 3rd trimester. Only 2 fetuses corresponding gestational age measuring FL including gestational age of late 3rd trimester. Gender of the fetuses didn’t have effect on gestational age measuring FL including or excluding spur of the femur. Regarding fetal weight all of the fetuses having corresponding gestational age measuring FL including spur of the femur were below 50th percentile while rest fetuses have around the 50th percentile. Conclusion 1. About 28% fetuses correspond their gestational age measuring FL including spur of the femur. Most of the fetuses of this group are of late 2nd trimester and early 3rd trimester 2. Weight of the fetuses corresponding their gestational age measuring FL including spur of the femur is below/around the 50th percentile. 3. Gender of the fetus doesn’t have effect of gestational age measuring FL including or excluding spur of the femur.
