Abstract: OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study is to evaluate the role of ultrasonography is the diagnosis of abortions their incidence in Pakistani women and comparison with previous studies. This study depends on the practical scanning through which data was collected in our data sheet it was conducted from February 07 to February 08. METHOD: One hundred patients were scanned at two different institutions of Lahore Pakistan which included. 1) Afro Asian Institute of Medical Sciences, 626-Shadman Lahore, Pakistan 2) Gilani Ultrasound center, Ferozpur Lahore, Pakistan RESULT: Out of 100 patients with history amenorrhea, lower abdominal pain and per vaginal bleeding and spotting following results were found: Normal pregnancy = 60% Missed Abortion = 14% Threatened Abortion = 9% Incomplete = 12% Complete = 4% Blighted oven = 1% CONCLUSION: In early pregnancy Ultrasound should be done on every patient who comes with history of amenorrhea, lower abdominal pain per vaginal bleeding and spotting to detect early pregnancy failure as ultrasound is the single most important modality to diagnose the status, frequently available, easily assessable, in-expensive and non invasive medical imaging technique and to manage accordingly.
