dc.description.abstractThis is discriptive studyit was conducted at Military Hospital during the period extended from January 2019 to September 2019. The objective of the study was to evaluate of ascites causes using computed tomography. The study included fifty patients, 28 were males and 22 were females. The study showed males (56%) were more affected by ascites than females (44%).The most affected ages were in the age group of (64-80) years.Metastases was the most common diseases that cause ascites (32%), followed by portal hypertension (24%), cirrhosis (18%), hepatocellular carcinoma(4%), then pancreatic cancer (4%), and other causes constituting (6%). Through these results, it was found that there is a relationship between the main cause of ascites and its grade at (P = 0.011.), andthere were not relationship between ascites causes and pleural effusion at (P = 0.197) The study concluded that a CT scan can find out the ascites and the underlying cause.en_US
