Dabetus Mellius is the main health problem worldwide with estimated 4.6 million death in 2011, diabetic patients are suffering from complication that with the long term could lead to death, one of the most important complication is the hematological changes. This was cross sectional study that conducted in Khartoum state during the period between April to November 2019 in antalia medical center that aimed to measure platelet count and platelet indices in type 2 diabetic patients. This study is conducted on 100 subject 50 case and 50 controls. 2.5 ml of venous blood samples were collected in EDTA anticoagulant containers, blood samples were analyzed by sysmex XP-300 hematological analyzer and mindary to mesure Hb A1c. Data obtained were analyzed statistically by SPSS version 20 using independent T test and personal correlation. Study showed the following result: there is no significant differences in platelet count (case:288X109,control:296 X109) , MPV (case:9.2,control 9.4fl), PLCR was significantly increased in diabetic patients compared with control .the mean of case is(24.3% ) and the mean of control (21.1%) with p value=(0.02 ) , (PDW) showed significant difference in case the mean is (13.6fl) compared with control (11.3fl )with P value =(0.00 ). PCT (case:0.26, control 0.27%) when compared the diabetics to non- diabetics, with P.value 0.7 , 0.2 and 0.4, respectively. The study concluded that P-LCR and PDW can be used as indicators for detection of diabetes type 2 complications.en_US
