Abstract: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of Syphilis hepatitis B and C and HIV viruses' infection among the blood donors attending the blood bank in Aljazeera state (Wad Madani). Two hundred blood donors were investigated during the period from January to March 2010. All the donors examined were male, age ranged from (20-50) years. The Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBs Ag) is the main serological marker for HBV infection which was detected among (10%) of blood donors using enzyme linked immune sorbent assay (ELISA). Hepatitis C virus (HCV), specific antibody (anti – HCV Abs) was detected among (3.5%) of blood donors, syphilis was detected among (30%) of blood donors and HIV negative test by using the same techngue. Donors within the age group (20-25) years were found to be significantly (P < 0.05) infected with viruses compare to all other age groups examined. In all subjects examined dual infection with all viruses both viruses was not never detected. No other risk factors (e.g. previous blood transfusion or contaminated surgical equipment) were found to be significant (P> 0.05) to get the infection.
