dc.description.abstractThis study aimed at investigating the problems facing secondary school students in reading comprehension. The researcher adopted the descriptive analytical method. The study sample was mainly drawn from secondary school students in second year at Jebel Awlia Locality- Klakla Algadida. The sample comprised (30) students of first year at the mentioned schools. A test was used as a main tool for data collection. The statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) program was used to analyze the obtained data. The findings revealed that: Secondary school students’ performance in reading comprehension is poor, secondary school students cannot understand reading texts because their vocabulary knowledge is weak and they have not learned reading skills well. Based on the findings the researcher recommended that: Secondary school students should be encouraged to improve their vocabulary and taught to practice reading skill. Teachers of English at secondary schools should be trained to use different techniques of teaching new vocabulary.en_US
