Abstract: This study was conducted in the farm in AL Sileit Agriculture project, the soil of the farm belongs to the Central Clay Plain of the Sudan that has been formed by alluvial deposit of the Nile. Some physical and chemical properties at six sites across the farm have been investigated during this study. The objectives of this work were the following: 1- To evaluate the suitability of the land at the study area. 2- To verify land qualities and limitations that affect land use. 3- To provide guidelines for use and management of similar soils in the surrounding area. The results of the study indicated that the soils are variable affected by salinity and sodicity and calcareous. They have non-saline, slightly saline, moderately saline and saline sub soil.Non-sodic, slightly and moderately calcareous soils are all found in the farm. Soil textures are clayey throughout, and infiltration rate is slow. The whole soil profile is compacted except at the surface and sub surface layer, and calcareous molting are relatively small. These soils are characterized by high water retention; land suitability of study area is S2 according to the limitations (Salinity, fertility).
