dc.description.abstractSyphilis is a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) caused by T.pallidum that represent a major public health problem and spreading worldwide in developing countries. This was descriptive study , a cross-sectional aimed to detect syphilis by Indirect ELISA among blood donors in Mc Nimir Hospital, shendi localiy, River Nile State during March to December https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augustus 2019. One hundred blood specimens were collected from donors with age ranged from 18- 47years with mean 30.1±2, all were males and all of them are citizens of Shendi locality and its suburbs. Enzyme Linked Immunosorbant assay (ELISA) was used to detect anti-syphilis antibodies (IgM and IgG). All the blood donors were IgM negative and 3(3%) were positive for IgG. One (1%) positive for IgG in age group ranged between 18-27 years, 2% was positive for IgG in age group ranged from 28-36 years and no candidate (0%) in age 37-47 years. Also1(1%) of positive cases from Rural areas and 2(2%) from Urban areas. One (1%) of positive donors was educated and 2 (2%) was non educated. Two (2%) of the positive subjects were drivers, 1(1%) was farmer and no dealer was positive. In conclusion anti-syphils antibodies were detected in few blood donors.en_US
