Computed Tomography is one of the most accurate and faster tool to diagnose diseases of the brain, chest, abdomen, and pelvis, And provides medical information that is different from other imaging examinations but delivers high radiation dose to patient. So calculation of patient dose is extremely important In the study A sample of 60 adults patients their undergoing chest CT examinations were selected from different centers (AL Police Hospital-khartoum Hospital, AL Faisal Hospital and Modern Medical Center) to estimate the quantity of effective dose for chest during computed tomography examination. The machines were used namely: Neusoft 16 slice,Toshiba 16 slice and GE Optima 16 slice. The results obtained the mean effective dose in three centers were (13.74-5.21-7.24) mSv respectively, as such the mean CDTIVOL was (26.85,11.64 and 10.7) mGy for Center A, B and C respectively, while the mean DLP in three centers was (981.14, 517.13, and 371.94) mGy.cm respectively. The study showed wide variations of patients doses in different centers, so Awareness of ALARA Principles is very important when performing CT examinations.en_US
