dc.description.abstractSyphilis is one of highly contagious disease, with a potential risk for transmitted it through blood transfusion and blood components donated by a symptomatic donors harboring infection. This was descriptive,cross sectional study aimed to detect the frequency of syphilis among blood donors attending Almanagil Teaching Hospital, Blood Bank from February 2017 to October 2019. About 150 samples were taken from blood donors with different ages from 18 to 49 years, all were males and have no history of blood transfusion or any symptoms of syphilis disease or previous surgical operation. All Serum samples were tested for syphilis using Rapid Plasma Regain (RPR) and Treponema pallidum Haemagglutination (TPHA) tests. Anti- non -terponemal antibodies in blood donors was 3 (2%) using RPR, which was confirmed by TPHAand yield negative result 0%. This study concludes that; therewas no syphilis case among blood donors in Almanagil Teaching Hospital, Blood Bank.en_US
