Abstract: A cross-sectional study was conducted from January to February 2018 to assess the prevalence of canine leishmaniasis in Jubek State, Republic of South Sudan. In addition to that, risk factors could be associated with the disease were also investigated. A total of 103 blood samples were collected from cephalic vein of dogs. The overall prevalence of canine leishmaniasis was 0% using microscopic examination of Geimsa and Leishman stained blood smear. For DNA detection, the overall prevalence of Leishmania donovani was also 0% using PCR test. The analysis of risk factors that could associate with the disease using Chi-square test shown that, there was no significant between these risk factors and the disease.
