Abstract: | This study is descriptive study done in mycetoma research center in soba university hospital in Khartoum state in period from august 2018 to November 2018 A total of 50 patient their age ranging between 5 -65 years suffering from mycetoma. all patient were scan by ultrasound unit which is paolus type with linear high frequency transducer (7 -12 MHz) to characterize mycetoma ultrasonograpically Data analysis program used package for the social science The main finding of this study show the foot mycetoma more common in male (80%) than female and the most common affected age between 18-30 years(42%) and most common affected area of the foot area plantar aspect of the foot( 46%). The type of mycetoma show fungal type (72%) more than bacterial type this study shows most common ultrasound appearance of mycetoma with multiple grains (43%) multiple pockets of fluid collection (60%),and it was found that with bone intact(56%) especially in bacterial type All features of grains are present with tow type (fungal and bacterial ) and the ultrasound examination able to differentiate between tow type . This study show that most common patient affected by mycetoma in Sudan from Aljazeera state(40) and northern cordovan (16%) also the Left foo(60%)the most common sites affected by mycetoma (especially in mid foot on plantar aspect) than the Right foot . |
