Abstract: | Continuous and reliable power supply is the main goal and target for power system networks. In this regard, many methods have been developed to enhance the performance of power supply systems. The case study is initiated to investigate power system network by using ETAP software as analysis tool. The network was drawn. The data for each component in the network was entered. After running the simulator, different fault scenarios were created to examine the existing protection system schemes and different miss-operations results were obtained as a response of protection system to the abnormal conditions. A new coordination scheme is designed which starts first by coordinating the phase over-current elements, for different paths from furthest downstream up to the generators. Next the earth fault relays are coordinated for the same paths and finally the instantaneous element as a backup protection was applied successfully. |
