dc.description.abstractA simple,linear, precise and accurate UV-VIS method was developed and validated for rapid assay of metronidazole in pharmaceutical dosage forms. The validation parameters (linearity, precision, accuracy, detection limit, quantitation limit) were validated according to the international conference of Harmonization specification. The method shows linearity with regression equation: Y= 0.057X and with a correlation coefficient R2=0.999 Arelative standard deviation of precision0.09, 0.069 and 0.228 % was observed on analysis of six replicate samples of concentration 6, 8 & 10 ppm respectively a recovery percentage of 99.24 – 100.0 %, which indicates that the developed method was simple, rapid and precise. Statistical data reveals the method is accurate and precise for the quantitation of Metronidazole. The method was successfully applied for the routine analysis of Metronidazole in tablet dosage.en_US
