dc.description.abstractThe objective of this study was to evaluate pulmonary embolism using CT angiography. The study included fifty (50) patients 13 males and 37 females with clinically diagnosed of PE , and were grouped according to sex, according to age the study finding in 30 patients (60%) with age range (56-70) years,12 patients (24%) with age range (41-55) years ,5 patients (10%) with range (71-85) years and 3 patients (6%) with range (25-40) years , according to this result PE is rare in young patients (25-40) years and is more common in elder patients (56-70) years. The study showed that CT is the best modality to identifying and localizing pulmonary embolism, the incident of pulmonary embolism is common in elder patients. The common site affected by pulmonary embolism is left side which were 30 patients (60%) and rare in both sides which were 8 patients (16%). The study showed the most common type of PE is acute massive 34 (68%) and acute minor type was 16 (32%). Most Causes of PE of the sample showed that (50%) of the patients had DVT. The study concludes that PE is the common in all elder patients.en_US
