Investigating the Role of Extensive Reading in Developing Student Speaking Skill

Abstract

The present research is quantitative one, it used the descriptive method. The research aims at investigating through a test the choice of the correct meaning of the chat language. The sample of the study were 30 (15 each group), of the English language students, and old people.at SUST, the result obtained showed that there is a lexical gap between generations. Chat acronyms are very essential in sociolinguistics area. The researcher recommends doing more studies on the internet communication as well as giving time for the oldest people of the society to learn about chat language, also creating link between the generations about internet and social communications.
