The study was conducted at Gezira research station farm, Agricultural research Corporation ,Wad Madni , Sudan, in the winter season in the period from November 2015 to February 2016 to study variability and correlation between growth, yield and its components in thirteen grain maize (Zea Mays L.) genotypes. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications.Data was collected for seven parameters included days to 50% tasseling, days to 50% silking, plant height(cm) , ear height (cm), ear length (cm) and grain yield (kg/ha). The phenotypic and genotypic variances, phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variations, heritability and genetic advance for different characters was determined. The correlation between different characters was estimated. The analysis of variance showed that there were significant differences (P≤0.01) for plant height, ear length, ear diameter, grain yield, and days to 50% silking. Th grain yield and ear length plant height and days of flowering, respectively. The highest values of genotypic and phenotypic variances were obtained by plant height. The highest values of genotypic and phenotypic coefficients of variations were obtained by grain yield. The highest values of heritability and genetic advance were scored for ear length and ear diameter, respectively. Positive and significant correlation was observed between ear diameter, ear length (cm), ear height (cm) and grain yield (1286.3) kg/ha. The highest value of grain yield was obtained by the genotype LONGS.en_US
