Abstract: | Wireless Local Area Networks have become an increasingly important technology for today’s computer and communications industry. With the rapid transformation of the Internet into a commercial infrastructure, demands for service quality have rapidly developed. Queuing is one of the important mechanisms in traffic management; each router in the network must implement some queuing discipline that governs how packets are buffered while waiting to be transmitted. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the adaptation of different queuing service disciplines to the wireless network. First-In-First-Out (FIFO), Priority Queuing (PQ) and Weighted Fair Queuing (WFQ) mechanisms were chosen, selected and employed for the network simulations. Simulation was carried out using OPNET simulation tool |
