Abstract: | This study was conducted to determine the effect of dietary probiotic supplementation on growth performance, carcass characteristics, edible part, blood profile, protein efficiency ratio and energy efficiency ratio. One hundred and twenty, 7 days old unsexed broiler chicks (Ross308) of approximately same weight were divided into four treatment groups (30) chicks/group. Each group was subdivided into (3) replicates (10) chicks each, in a completely randomized design. The experimental period was 4 weeks with the 2 weeks as the starter period and the last 2 weeks as finisher. Eight experimental diets were formulated to meet the nutrient requirements of broiler chicks, four diets to starter period and four diets to finisher period. The control diets (0%) and other diets contain (0.025%, 0.05% and 0.1%) probiotics respectively. Results show no significant different of probiotic supplementation in broiler diet on feed intake, weight gain, feed conversion ratio, energy efficiency ratio and protein efficiency ratio during all experimental period. In addition carcass characteristics and blood profile were not affected by the addition of probiotics. |
