Abstract: This is a case control study, conducted in Khartoum locality during the period from February to December 2015, to determine the complete blood count (CBC) of Sudanese pregnant women at first trimester attended Khartoum City healthy centers. Eighty healthy Sudanese pregnant women and forty non pregnant women participate in this study after they informed about the study and agreed for participation .Questionnaire was designed to collect information about the study group such as Age, regular clinical flow up , supplementation intake and history of abortion. 2.5 ml venous blood was taken in EDTA anticoagulant container. Automated hematological analyzer (sysmex Kx-21) was used to measure CBC, and the results were analyzed by SPSS computer program. The results showed insignificant difference in all hematological parameters under study in pregnant women at first trimester when compared with non pregnant women except a significant increase in MCV(mean 82.0fl±6.4) p value(0.00) and a significant decrease in platelets(mean 261± 66)p value (0.03). Significant increases in MCV (mean83.0±6.0) p value (0.01) of pregnant women take supplementation (Folic acid) when compared with those without supplementation intake. History of abortion, regular clinical follow up and age of pregnant women had no significant effect on hematological parameters under this study (p value <0.05).
