dc.description.abstractThis study was aimed to determine the prevalence of Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C viruses among Ethiopians in Khartoum State using Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) for detection of both HBsAg and HCV IgG. The study design was cross-sectional study which was carried out during the period from April to June 2015. A total of ninety patients attended to Al Salam Clinic Algreeif West in Khartoum State were included in the Study. The results revealed that 23(25.5%)were positive for HCV while 67(74.4%)were negative .Whereas 36(40%)were positive for HBsAg and 54(60%)were negative. According to age group there was significant relationship(p > 0.05) on seroprevelence for both HBsAg and HCV IgG. The highest prevalence of HBsAgwas(21%) in age group (26-35)yrs. While for HCV the prevalence was (14.4%) in the age group(15-25) yrs. This study revealed that HBV and HCV were more prevalence in young age and female were more susceptible to infection than male 42%,37% respectively for HBV and 28.9%,22% for HCV .Further study is required to validate these results.en
