Abstract:
Artifacts in magnetic resonance images, as in different Radiologic imaging modalities are common and lead to misdiagnosing or at least decrease the image quality. The causes are different and as a result there are many types of artifacts. This research is a trial of picking up the most common artifacts in MR images in Khartoum State Centers and detecting their causes in order to give a solution for each if possible.
In order of sequence the research started with an introduction and the proposal which clarifies the objectives and the outlines of the research. Then, after giving a brief literature review of the MR machine and the different types of artifacts that may occur in MR images, the researcher presented the results of the practice form different MR centers in Khartoum state and from the questionnaire and internet, each plotted on graphs and accompanied with very good examples of images. Detailed analysis and discussion of the results conclude to valuable information. The researcher found that the motion artifact is the most common artifact in all centers, and found that all types of artifacts can be minimized by full care and attention of the technologist. The research presented how to avoid or minimize most of artifacts and the researcher gave a valuable recommendations. At last researcher listed the references which are text ones.
