Abstract:
One hundred patients suffering from different renal problems were enrolled in this study at diagnostic center in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Medina Munawara in the period between first of November 2005 to February 2007.
All patients were evaluated sonographically using the international scanning guidelines protocols. Data were collected using the following variables like Accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. The study was done in King Fahad Hospital - (renal unit).
Patient’s age in the study, ranged between 16 years and 77 years with the average age of 46 years.
67% of them were males and 33% females. The range of accumulation of age groups for chronic renal failure was between 32 years and 50 years. Accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of U/S in diagnosis of CRF were found to be 73%, 51%, 84% respectively.
Ultrasonography as a unique imaging modality is sufficient in a great part for evaluation of patients with suspected CRF and it’s complications.
