Abstract:
This study was conducted in Khartoum state during the
.period from April 2005 to June 2005
The study to assess the cytological change in buccal
.mucosa among Toombak dippers
The study assessed the cytological atypia among 70
toomback users known as cases, 30 non toomback users
.((cases
Analysis of the smears identified atypia in 3 (4.3%) of the
cases and no atypia detected among controls. Among the
cases, 2(2.9%) showed moderate atypia and 1(1.4%) mild
atypia.toomback use is a risk factor for occurrence of oral
cancer
The relation between inflammatory infiltrates and factors,
such as age duration and intensity of toomback use per day
.seem to be of value

Exfoliated cytology appears to be of value in detection of
pre malignant conditions and different type of inflammation
.and benign degenerative changes
