Abstract:
This study was carried out in Ahmed gasim and Ibn sina hospitals (department of renal transplant), Khartoum scan center, Elnelin medical center and Modern medical center where 30 samples were collected randomly from different ages and different gender.
The study was carried out to evaluate efficiency and accuracy of spiral computed tomography in imaging of renal arteries of kidney donors.
30 donors had undergone spiral CT renal angiogram, the scan was done using collimation of 2- 2.5 mm on interval of 2-2.5 mm at 92 -140 MAS and 110-120 KV. 80-130 ml of contrast was injected intravenously.
In addition to the previous samples information from questionnaires were collected from 20 technologists work in different CT departments and 10 renal surgeons work in different renal transplant units. From this information the researcher justified difficulties of performing some exams and the causes of incompatibility of some angiogram results with the results gained after surgery.
The exam proved the presence of single renal artery in the left kidney in 23 donors and excluded 2 donors from nepherectomy, one of them had bilateral multiple renal cysts and the other had AVM bilaterally the exam didn’t confirm the results of 5 donors which the presence of triple left renal arteries in one donor and double Lt renal arteries in the reminder donors.
The researcher concluded to that the exam was accurate and efficient by a percentage of 76%.
