Abstract:
The aim of the current thesis was to assess the response of ablative dose of
Iodine-131 (capsule of Na-I-131) for treatment of hyperthyroidism as
retrospective study carried out in RICK during 2012.
The selected sample was 50 patients and the assessment based on the
collected variables as: age, gender, histology, BMI and the level of
hormones (T3, T4 and TSH) before and after dose administration.
The variables were analyzed using EXCELL soft ware and the results
showed that: the incidence of hyperthyroidism is predominated among
female with a frequency of 70% relative 30% among the male and the
incidence of follicular carcinoma is predominant among female with
frequency of 44% relative to papillary carcinoma with frequency of 42%.
And the incidence of hyperthyroidism is predominant among age group of
the range (55-65) among male and the age group of 25-35 among female
with frequency of 24%. Also the study revealed that the level of T3, T4 and
TSH as 10.1, 357.6 and 0.15 before the treatment has been reduced to 2.4,
113.8 and 0.93 g\ml due to applied dose of 111.5 mCi in average and
there is a linear proportional correlation between the dose in mCi and BMI.
