Abstract:
Breast abnormalities are been increasing especially breast cancer so accurate diagnoses help to eliminate side effects and prevent complication. Many diagnostic modalities uses for breast investigation, the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), superior to these modalities. The general objectives of this study is to prove that MRI diffusion weighted imaging is accurate in detection of breast cancer in early stages and compare with other protocol .
The data were collected from (35) patients female. with age range between (24-70) years were taken and studied according to age, weight, height, protocol and histopathology of the patients. The study was carried out in Elamal Elwatany Hospital, MRI department with Philip 1.5 Tesla.
The result of this study show that Magnetic Resonance Imaging(DWI) detect(75%) having heterogeneous enhancement which is feature of cancer, and (25%) having homogeneous enhancement which is feature of benign tumor from ( 35) patients. Comparing with other protocol (STIR) we detected (31.4%) having heterogeneous enhancement and (14.3%) having homogeneous enhancement and (54.3%) having no enhancement. Comparing this result with the histopathology of patients we found that (DWI) is more sensitive in detection breast tumor.
