Abstract:
This is analytical study dealt with 50 males complain of scrotal swelling that came for ultrasound department in some Khartoum hospitals in the period from September up to December 2011. The data were collected by clinical data sheets, ultrasound images and the patients. The Data were analyzed using statistical packages for social studies (SPSS) and Microsoft Excel computer programs and the results were presented in form of graphs and tables.
The objectives of this research are to characterize scrotal sac swelling by using ultrasound.
The results showed that scrotal swelling affects the males at any age and caused by a several diseases and ultrasound can differentiate these causes and give useful informations that lead to the right approach of treatment.
In this study scrotal swelling was found to be commoner in the age group (31-40) years old and soldiers is the most affected group with the diseases that cause scrotal swelling.
The common factor that leads to the condition is the hydrocele which affects 45% of the study population.
Scrotal swelling is commonly painless but sometimes it may be associated with pain if the patient complains of orchitis.
