Abstract:
gwo rapidly evolving and merging technologies are the Internet
and wireless data communications, another trend is the increased
use of real time multimedia applications for audio and video
communication.
goday, the wireless networks are able to transfer both voice as
well as data, thus opening a huge possibility of the various kinds of
applications and services that can be built over such
communication infrastructure. This thesis discusses the challenges
that face the design of wireless networks for supporting
multimedia. The study encompasses the changes that need to be
brought about in the wireless networks to guarantee a QoS to
different classes of multimedia traffic.
gherefore
a comparison of QoS factors resulting from
transmitting multimedia over wired and wireless network was
made through using the infrastructure of Sudan University for
science and technology network and transmitting Multimedia over
wired and wireless link and comparing the results it has been found
that there is some multimedia format better to be sent over wired
network to maintain the QoS and grantee stable quality. As well as
there is other multimedia format that can be sent over wireless
network and still have QoS. It all depends on the QoS parameters
required.
