Abstract:
In this study analysis was carried for fifty ground water samples from different sources in Dilling area To evaluate the different parameters that determine the water
quality in the area and to be compared with WHO and S.S.M.O
guide line.
Physical characteristics of ground water were determined
including hydrogen ion concentration pH, electrical conductivity (EC), Turbidity and total dissolved solids, UV-Vis analysis was
caried for determination of nitrate and fluoride.
Chlorides (Cl), total alkalinity, ̄ total hardness, were determined titrimetrically.
Atomic Absorption spectrometry was used for the determination copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb)
concentrations.
The results obtained were statistically treated using SPSS program.
The obtained results indicate some agreement with previous
analysis (Ias & Afaf Boshara) in the same area.
The analysis shows general suitability of these ground water sources for drinking. Results also show:
1) High concentrations of carbonate, calcium and magnesium ions.
2) High total dissolved solids content.3) Fluoride concentration in some drinking water sources exceeds the permissible limit compared to WHO and S.S.M.O guide
lines.
