Trials were conduct at Elshowak area during2003 season to test the use of "U" shape and "L" shape micro water harvesting technique to grow Acacia tortilis subspecies raddiana, Acacia mellifera, Acacia seyal, Zisyphus spina christi, Moringa oleifera and Balanites aegyptiaca in an area affected by gully erosion. Survival rate trials showed that these species except Moringa oleifera can be established using micro water harvesting technique. Field trials showed that "U" shape micro-catchment have better results in terms of survival rate than control through increasing moisture content. Also field trial showed promising results that, 30%, 21.4% and 15.2% survival rates for A.tortilis A.mellifera and Zizyphus spina christi respectively when compared to control that obtained zero percent.

The study was conducted in Kadugli locality, South Kordofan state, during 2009-2011. The objective of the study was to make comparison between different range types. The rangelands were divided into four range types according to their soil types by using Global Positioning System (GPS). Parker loop method was used to determine the ground cover along transects of 100m length. A quadrate of 1m² sizes was used to determine density, frequency, range productivity and carrying capacity. The results obtained explained that rocky and clay soil range sites were the best rangelands concerning plant cover, biomass production and carrying capacity. The other two types of soils, sandy and gardoud soils rangelands were found poor for the same parameters. Species diversity was found poor in clay soil than the other types of soils.

The objective of the present study was planned to investigate the in vitro efficancy of Punica granatum tannins of stem and root bark and fruit rind and placenta on miracidia of Schistosoma mansoni using different serial double concentrations. Results showed that a concentration as low as 0.39 ppm of the investigated tannins was enough to kill 100% of miracidia after 50-150 min and to kill 50% of miracidia within 25.1-48.3 min. At 50 ppm, the lethal time for 100% of miracidia ranged between 5 and 15 min and the lethal time for 50% miracidia ranged between 0.5 and 6 min. Placenta tannins were the most potent biocide for miracidia amongst the four tannins of pomegranate (P? 0.05). Fifty ppm pomegranate root and stem bark tannins killed 100% miracidia after 0.6 and 50 min, respectively, and 0.39 ppm killed 50% miracidia after 0.6 and 21.6 min respectively. The results concluded that the four investigated tannins of P. granatum were found to be completely lethal to Schistosoma mansoni miracidia and can be used as biocide.
