Abstract:
This study aims at investigating English speaking problems encountered by basic school pupils in Khartoum town.
The problem of the study is that, speaking skill doesn’t develop automatically. The significance of speaking skill enables learners to express themselves fluently in different situations.
The tool of data gathering was a questionnaire and the sample were the English teachers in Khartoum town. The researcher analyzed the data and the result approved that the teacher’s inaccurate pronunciation is a cause of English speaking problems.
The circumference environment might have an effect on speaking skill.
English teachers should be well trained in their field.
On the basis of the main finding the researcher stated a number of recommendations:-
The English teacher should be familiar with so many activities and techniques that could assist learners in mastering speaking gradually.
Pronunciation is a gate to understand spoken English, so teachers should cope with it carefully and accurately to improve learner’s speaking.
Speaking skill should be taken into consideration, so as to give learners chances to express themselves clearly.
