Abstract:
The Eye and Orbit can be demonstrated by many imaging modalities, but the MRI and ultrasonography both safe and evaluate the soft tissues clearly.
The mai0n aim of this study to give more information about MRI and U/S in diagnosing the eye and orbital disease in technique, procedures and purpose.
Fifty patients diagnosed as different eye and orbital problems, they were studied in order to identify the age, sex, region (area of lesion) and the imaging modalities (MRI, U/S). This data analyzed by using Descriptive Statistic method.
The result shows that there is a relation between the type of examination (MRI, U/S) and area of disease or lesion, many of this problems intraocular area can be demonstrate clearly by Ultrasound, such as, Retina problems, eye lens disorder, inflammation, Vitreous Problems, Foreign Bodies in traumatic patients, but the ultrasonography is not good in diagnosing brain problems (Tumours, lesion, etc). And MR imaging is better on diagnosing the brain primary and secondary Tumours, Center Nervous System problems, thyroid disease and the tumours in orbital area which can affect the control of the eye movement and eye function.
But MRI is contraindicated for patients have metallic foreign bodies, and all patients have electronic objects e. g (pacemakers)
