Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the extent of Sudanese English teachers’ awareness of the importance of Listening skill in mastering the language. The descriptive analytical is used to analyze the data collected. The sample is 40 teachers selected randomly from 10 schools in Khartoum Locality.
The findings show that majority of the Sudanese teachers are aware of the important role of the listening skill in developing the others skills, and enables the learners to master the language . They due the negligence to the absence of listening materials and lack of audio visual aids.
The study recommends that listening materials , and audio visual aids should be included in textbooks , teacher can get benefit of recent available audio visual aids that enable them to teach Listening Comprehension (LC) perfectly.
The study suggests that syllabus designers should put in consideration including LC in textbooks in the future, and supplementary listening materials be distributed to schools.
